'Peripheral Vision' encapsulates a deep dive into the intricacies of human perception, inspired by the fascinating insights of Donald Hoffman. the installation at Radion, Amsterdam, for Somov Nacht, covers this concept through a visual narrative. At the heart of this project lies an exploration of what we perceive, what escapes our attention, and the veiled layers that exist just outside our direct visual field.
Our visual engagement, limited to a scant 0.0035% of the electromagnetic spectrum, opens a dialogue about the unseen and overlooked aspects of our environment. The installation translates these abstract theories into a sensory experience that challenges and expands the visitor’s field of view. Through a choreographed sequence of light and shadow, the narrative unfolds across the installation space, inviting the audience to question and reevaluate their perception of reality.
Delicately balancing the interplay between light waves and darkness, 'Peripheral Vision' aims for a minimalist aesthetic. It employs a chromatic palette to emphasize the high contrast and intricate shapes of our visual experiences.
The narrative serves as a reflective mirror, revealing the unseen through the seen, and transforming our understanding of how we interact with our surroundings.
